The Shack
1. The Shack – by William P. Young [Spiritual Walk]
I found several key ideas in this novel that truly impacted my life. First of all, was the amazing portrayal of our relationship with God. The way our relationship with God is described and how God interacts with is, was like honey to my lips. I’ve always seen God as loving, and never as a mean dictator, but I could not have come across a more beautiful representation of that relationship as what I found in this book. Another idea that impacted me was how Forgiveness was described. Again, I’ve heard different sermons and lessons on forgiveness, but I’ve never seen it in this light before. Finally, as a novel, I’ve never had my emotions so intense. I actually was brought to tears, and was so filled with anticipation I could not put the book down, and at other times I wasn’t sure if I could continue. I understand that there is spiritual controversy surrounding this book, but if you read it as a fictional book that offers a beautiful representation of God’s relationship with us and a picture of forgiveness, it may be the read you’ve ever experienced as well.
