Parenting UberMoment

I take my children everywhere, but they always find their way back home.

Easter Meltdown

This past Sunday we went to church, which was much more packed than usual, being Easter. Our church has all of the children join their parents for the praise and worship portion of the service, before sending them off to their Sunday School classes during the sermon portion. Jacob, our 3 year old, has a difficult time sitting still during worship so we’ve resorted to letting him play on the iPod touch while the rest of stand and sing. Jacob was playing one of our favorite games to play together – a tank game – where he’ll engage the enemy as far as he can, and I usually end up having to defeat the big boss guy at the end of the level.

Sure enough, Jake gets to the big boss in between songs and gets frustrated that he can’t beat him. So he starts yelling to me, “Dad – you need to kill the Big Guy”. Despite our frantic shushing, he continued to call for Dad to kill the big guy. I suddenly felt like Pontius Pilot.

I’m not sure what Amy finally said to get him to stop, but I think it may have involved Jacob needing his own resurrection.
